Hi, I'm Alex and I run a small independent consultancy called Efficient Ideas.  My specialist professional interest is the more technical side of designing and building low energy buildings, and how to take existing buildings and retrofit them for radically reduced energy consumption.

Low-energy building is an interesting intersection between my academic background as a M&E engineer specialising in renewable energy, my personal conviction that retrofitting existing housing stock with energy efficiency measures is a low-hanging fruit when it comes to reducing carbon emissions, and enjoying the creative challenge of taking people's homes and making them more comfortable and cheaper to run

I'm also available to act as an 'energy champion' within an organisation to help ensure that business decisions are made with adequate consideration given to possible ways to improve efficiency. Often there are measures that have minimal cost if implemented at the right time and ensure that your bottom line is less tied to future energy prices.
