Are Environmentalists bad for the environment?

Interesting radio programme.

I believe that the problem with some environmentalist comes from a superficial or purely academic understanding of sustainability and the impact on the poor of the world.  So much of it is seen through western eyes and with a high degree of double standards.  This attitude affects decision making and policy, particularly international policy.  

I guess you can say this is my view from the south.....
