CHASE has teamed up with other groups to organise a special summer event - a BBQ for everyone interested in technology, creative ideas, entrepreneurship and the life sciences. We're aiming to get cross pollination and to start interesting conversations.

An open source based solar heating project - Wookey
This month we have something quite different.
Balloon is an free/open-source hardware platform intended for use in embedded devices.
Wookey is a software engineer, working on Free Software. He's been deeply involved in the Balloon Project.
When he decided that a hot-water solar panel would make a good addition for his house, and that he wanted to build the system, naturally he used the Balloon as the controller.

Training grants for Creative businesses in the East of England

Screen East is delivering the Creative Sector of this European Social Fund and East of England Development Agency (ESF/EEDA) programme supporting higher level short courses to a maximum grant of £5000 per business. The Creative Sector includes digital media, web design, audio visual industries and software development.
Cambridge Hitech Assisiation of Small Enterprises e-Go personal aircraft talk

The importance of getting the requirements right

I saw this video over the holiday period and it served as a useful reminder as to how easy it is to get the requirements for a new system wrong through poor communication and assumptions both from the customer and the supplier. Which is made harder by the frustration that inevitably follows.
